Surrender-it's all we can do...

If you've ever been on any kind of Mission Trip, you know full well that God has a sense of humor. "Things don't always turn out as YOU plan." Isn't that exciting though?!...If you knew what to expect ALL the time-that would be kind of boring, right? ...
Well, our team isn't even THERE yet, and we already have things changing every single day. What turned out be a mission to an orphanage in Cahul may very well turn out to be something different. Who knows!?
It's hard to give everything completely to God and to allow Him to work things out in HIS timing and for His purpose...however, it is what we must do as His followers, we must surrender ourselves to His perfect plan...for whatever reason this team is going to Moldova---I am sure of it that God has a great plan.

Info on Moldova!

So, i thought i'd post some imformation i have about Moldova.

So, in this picture, Moldova, the yellow country, is located in between Romania and Ukraine. Moldova is about the size of Maryland, USA. If you'll notice the southern most city that is ploted by the name of "Cahul" (if you can read it). Cahul is the city the orphanage (where i will be) is.

Smallest region in the former Soviet Union. With a reported population of almost 4 1/2 million, just over 98% are Orthodox.

Ethnic Groups

  • 64.5% Moldovan
  • 13% Russian
  • 13.5% Ukrainians
  • 3.5% Gaguaz
  • 2% Bulgarians
  • 1.5% Jews and Roma

The National language is Moldovan (essentially Romanian), but approximatley 40% of the people speak Russian.

Independent only since 1991, Moldova's government is still searching for stability. Hisotircally it is partly Romanian and partly Russian, united by force of the USSR to form one country. With the dissolution of the USSR, the question of reuniting with Romania created ethnic tension with Russian-speaking citizens which led to a brief civil war in 1992 between Moldovans and Transdniestr, the highest concentration of Russian speaking people living along Moldova's eastern border.

Some facts

  • As a nation within the Soviet Union, Moldova was the 6th largest agricultural producing country, it's main exports being wine and champagne.
  • 80% of Moldovans earn the equivalent of between and $7 and $10 per month. Many wait up to two months or more to get paid.

I hope you've enjoyed the lesson for today...haha..

well, school's crazy along with work, so i'll try to update and write a little something every day!...
Have a great night.
